Volunteer Role Description

Are you interested in sharing your gift of counseling with expectant mothers in need of support? Are you looking for an opportunity to make counseling accessible to a population in need? Are you passionate about building a culture that fosters a respect for life?

The Elizabeth Team relies on a group of volunteer counselors to counsel and accompany women in crisis pregnancies to ensure a secure transition into motherhood. As part of the Elizabeth Team, counselors will:

Complete intake and assessments
Provide counseling to individuals and families in crisis pregnancies
Provide individuals with the resources they need to reach personal goals
Coordinate with client for care and services
Maintain an updated profile with your availability

What are volunteer counselor requirements?

Each counselor must have an active license to practice counseling in the state of Texas and complete the training opportunities offered for the Elizabeth Team. Additionally, counselors must live out the Elizabeth Team’s mission statement and promises.

What training is available to volunteer counselors?

The Elizabeth Team provides quarterly team training for new and existing volunteer counselors. Training is focused on gaining skills and knowledge for this particular population.

Where does counseling take place?

Counseling services are provided at the clinician’s current place of practice or virtually.

Who is responsible for client documentation?

Each counselor is responsible for intake paperwork and for documentation management.

Is there a fee for counseling services?

Counselors on the Elizabeth Team commit to providing generously discounted or free counseling services to women who are in a crisis pregnancy. The goal is to make counseling accessible to this population. Counselors are responsible for setting their rates, negotiating fees with potential clients, or providing a limited number of pro bono sessions.

How are clients matched with counselors?

Clients are matched with an available counselor upon request. Clients are able to request a specific counselor or opt to meet with the next available counselor.

What is the client case-load?

Each clinician determines the hours they can volunteer for the Elizabeth Team, and can determine their case-load accordingly.
